Omega-7 SBA24 contains omega-3, 6, 7 and 9 fatty acids, together with vitamin E, beta-carotene and plant sterols, which may help to maintain healthy mucous membranes; these in turn form the linings of the genital, respiratory and digestive tracts.
Omega 7 SBA24 is prepared from the berries of the sea buckthorn plant (Hippophae rhamnoides), a Himalayan shrub widely used in traditional medicine. Sea buckthorn oil is one of the few rich sources of omega 7 monounsaturated fatty acids (e.g. palmitoleic acid and vaccenic acid).
Dryness can be caused by mucous membrane breakdown. Mucous membranes line the inner surface of the digestive system and urogenital tract as well as the surface of the eyes and mouth. The essential PUFAs and antioxidants present in sea buckthorn oil act synergistically in maintaining healthy mucous membranes throughout the body. The omega 7 PUFA palmitoleic acid is of particular importance.
