A.Vogel Santasapina lozenges 30g

A Vogel was a strong advocate of the benefits of fir trees shoots, encouraging walkers to chew on them for their beneficial effects. In line with his principle of maintaining a thriving, sustainable source for our herbs these lozenges are created from the shoots from the lower branches of our Norway Spruce trees (Picea abies) so as not to limit their growth.

Alfred Vogel, who took great pleasure in walking and working in the Swiss countryside, enjoyed collecting and eating pine buds on his walks as he knew of their effectiveness against coughs. Here in an extract from one of his earlier publications, he gives some background to his creation of the delicious Santasapina.

When we see the light green pine buds breaking through the needles of the pine trees, we know that they are not just beautiful to look at. It is from them that pine bud syrup is made, which even our great-grandmothers knew how to prepare with all its tasty qualities.

Fruit juice concentrate and honey make the pine syrup used in these lozenges very palatable.

Ingredients:

Each lozenge of 2.3g contains: sugar, glucose syrup, honey, pear concentrate, spruce shoot extract (Norwegian pine) 83mg, malt extract, pine oil, peppermint oil, menthanol.
